Business Transfer Pathways Presentation MARCH 29, 2016

Goal The goal of the statewide pathways to baccalaureate degrees is not to create a common associate degree program or a bachelor degree program in the field of study. Rather, institutions will use the pathway to baccalaureate degree to ensure minimum competency requirements are met at the associate degree level and that students are academically prepared to transfer into the parallel bachelor degree program as juniors.

Examples The following two “hypothetical” examples were created to show how the table of required content areas “could” be applied at a two and four-year level. Each school will still have freedom to choose many of the degree-specific and MnTC classes that fulfill the pathway requirement.

Example One

Example Two

Common Feedback/Questions With the diversity of MnTC designations at every school, will the proposed pathway requirements work universally? If an AS in Business Administration or Management is used, which only require 30 MnTC credits, will students still be able to graduate from a university in 120 credits? Will the math requirement within the AS Degree hurt business enrollments at community colleges? As a university professor, will I ever be able to teach Principles of Management and Principles of Marketing again? How can we ensure the competencies and course objectives are being met universally?

Common Feedback/Questions Can we create a new “Transfer AS Degree?”
