3 Introduction Agreement on a global indicator framework for monitoring progress towards achieving SDGs containing some 241 indicators for 169 targets of 17 Goals Framework proposed by the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on SDG indicators (IAEG-SDGs) formally needs to be adopted by the General Assembly in September 2016 Classified into 3 tiers depending on the availability of methodology and data 3

4 Features Focus on national ownership as data will be produced by national statistical systems Importance of data disaggregation by income, gender, age, race, ethnicity, migratory status, disability, geographic location and other characteristics relevant in national contexts Indicators do not necessarily cover all aspects of goals and targets Data for several of the indicators remains unavailable 4

5 Monitoring and Reporting High-level political forum (HLPF) will have the central role in overseeing follow-up and review It will be informed by an annual progress report on the SDGs prepared in cooperation with the UN system, based on the global indicator framework It will also conduct national voluntary reviews starting with 22 countries in July 2016 Coherence of Global, Regional and National level frameworks still being discussed 5

7 Indicators where ILO is custodian agency ILO will be the custodian agency for about 13 indicators (2 jointly) across goals 1, 5, 8 and 10 Out of 13 indicators where ILO is custodian agency: Tier I: 9 Tier II: 2 Tier III: 2 7

Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all ILO Department of Statistics 8 TargetIndicator 8.2 Achieve higher levels of economic productivity through diversification, technological upgrading and innovation, including through a focus on high-value added and labour-intensive sectors 8.2.1 Annual growth rate of real GDP per employed person (Tier I) 8.3 Promote development-oriented policies that support productive activities, decent job creation, entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation, and encourage the formalization and growth of micro-, small- and medium- sized enterprises, including through access to financial services 8.3.1 Proportion of informal employment in non ‑ agriculture employment, by sex (Tier II)

9 Employment-related SDG indicators where ILO is custodian agency ILO Department of Statistics 9 TargetIndicator 8.5 By 2030, achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men, including for young people and persons with disabilities, and equal pay for work of equal value 8.5.1 Average hourly earnings of female and male employees, by occupation, age and persons with disabilities (Tier II) 8.5.2 Unemployment rate, by sex, age and persons with disabilities (Tier I) 8.6 By 2020, substantially reduce the proportion of youth not in employment, education or training 8.6.1 Proportion of youth (aged 15-24 years) not in education, employment or training (Tier I)

Strengthen the means of implementat ion and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Developme nt 17.18 By 2020, enhance capacity-building support to developing countries, including for least developed countries and small island developing States, to increase significantly the availability of high-quality, timely and reliable data disaggregated by income, gender, age, race, ethnicity, migratory status, disability, geographic location and other characteristics relevant in national contexts 17.18.1 Proportion of sustainable development indicators produced at the national level with full disaggregation when relevant to the target, in accordance with the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics 17.18.2 Number of countries that have national statistical legislation that complies with the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics 17.18.3 Number of countries with a national statistical plan that is fully funded and under implementation, by source of funding

13 Identifying need to strengthen statistics through UNDAFs and other national frameworks Implementation of the 19th ICLS Resolution concerning statistics of work, employment and labour underutilization. (Experience from Moldova and Kyrgyzstan) Technical assistance to countries on reporting data (filling ILO’s annual questionnaire, processing existing microdata, international comparability, automation of data exchange) Improving data collection (disaggregations, Tier II and Tier III indicators) through regular Labour Force and other surveys Providing technical inputs to national reviews ILO Department of Statistics 13 Some areas of further work/collaboration
