Oversees the school’s repair and maintenance needs, reviews how well buildings meet the school’s requirements and checks that all H&S matters are promptly addressed. Teaching & Learning and Personnel (Chair – Helen Glaze; Vice Chair Sue Gribbin) Approves the curriculum, helps the Headteacher set improvement priorities and monitors school progress as a whole. Monitors the many aspects of staffing structures, terms & conditions, performance management etc. Safeguarding & Pupil Welfare (Chair – Emma Coupe; Vice Chair Naomi Moffatt ) Considers all issues regarding the care of pupils including e-safety. Admissions Panel – considers any matters arising. Last Year’s Achievements: We monitored the introduction of the Government’s new school curriculum; Established closer links with the wider community; Maintained and improved our communication between the school, parents and pupils Our Key Aims for 2015/16: The FGB’s annual Action Plan sets key priorities for the development of the school: 1.To develop further the Christian ethos of the school 2.To review the current Ofsted report, ensuring all positive aspects are maintained and that recommended improvements are being addressed 3.To embed and further enhance the personal development, behaviour and welfare of the pupils of Eccleston CE Primary School Our Role: The School Governors are responsible for the strategic oversight of the school, to monitor the performance of the school and to hold its leaders to account. This means we are concerned with the ‘bigger picture’. However, the Headteacher is responsible for all day to day decisions that ensure the school runs smoothly. Key Tasks:How We Do It: Establish a clear vision for the school going forward and a strategy for how to achieve it. We support our schools’ commitment to high achievement for all. We set aims for the school, in conjunction with the Headteacher, and we look at and plan for the longer term challenges the school faces. Make sure the school’s values are being taught and reflected by pupils Regular Governor visits looking for evidence of values being taught and reflected by pupils throughout the school. Ensure the Health & Safety of all pupils and staff. By remaining vigilant when on the school premises and having sub-committees which ensure our school is a safe place by following up all issues raised. Ensure the school has a sound financial strategy Through the finance sub-committee and a special government form (Schools Financial Value Standard [SFVS]). This helps us to monitor whether public funding is being spent effectively. Ensure the highest standards are being met Link subject governor visits to ensure the curriculum is being taught effectively; Receiving and analysing data on the results of national standardised tests; Hearing presentations from teachers in Full Governing Body (FGB) meetings; Through termly updates on the attainment of pupils and the school’s progress on the priorities for improvement. Ensuring parents, staff and pupils have a voice in our school. By providing information like this poster and by linking with parents by e-mail, newsletters, website etc and responding to feedback.
