9 Guidelines To Avail Semen I. Commercial/ Private Nucleus Farm 1. Imported semen with landed price value of $100, $50, and $25 will be sold only to accredited and registered farms. 2. To ensure that more breeding farms will benefit from this semen, the number of semen straws per farm will be limited to a maximum of 50 straws. 3. Private farms must be willing to register his cow to be inseminated to BAI’s CDMU for proper enlistment, encoding and animal I.D. Must also be willing to enter into MOA for the evaluation of offspring data. 4. Only farms with complete pedigree and records of bulls and cow will be entitled to avail the semen.

10 Guidelines for RFUs & LGUs II. Smallhold Farms – RFU & LGU 1. Distribution of semen must be through the approval of RAIC as recommended by RFU & LGU Technicians 2. Artificial Insemination plan must be submitted indicating the number of cooperators and breeder animals. A cooperator must be certified as long time beneficiaries of AI Program with breeder animals already a product of 2-3 times AI indicating the ID of bulls and mother. 3. Farmers who have purchased 2-5 head of purebred, pedigreed animals from accredited cattle breeder farms. 4. Smallhold farms with more than 10 head purebred animals. 5. Farmer is willing to register his animal to CDMU for animal ID and enlistment and must regularly submit offspring data. 6. Animal to be inseminated must have proper ID, birthdate, birthweight, or if possible pedigree. 7. Imported semen will be at 50% discounted price

11 Selection of Recipient Nucleus/ Multiplier Farm 1.Must be a DA accredited farm. 2.With complete production and breeding facilities such as housing facilities/shed, improved pasture, weighing scale, chute and etc. 3.Good recording system- Breeding, Performance and Pedigree Record 4.With Animal Health and Disease Control Program- regular vaccination, serological testing and minimal disease occurrence. 5.With technical and support staff. 6.A certified member of recognized livestock association/cooperators – i.e. FCRAP for beef cattle and of FGASPAPI for small ruminants. 7.No pending obligation/ unsettled livestock account under the Bull/ Heifer and SR Loan Program. 8.Guaranteed and recommended by livestock association. 9.Must be evaluated and recommended by RFU-GIP Coordinator/PL480

12 Selection of Recipient Small Hold Farmers 1.The farmer must have at least an existing head of livestock and have a good record of raising goat and cattle. 2.With readily available improved forage area and other agricultural by-products to support the animal. 3.Willing to undergo training and adopt livestock technology. 4.Has the ability to manage and finance the animal production. 5.Good recording system- Breeding, Performance and Pedigree Record 6.A member of cooperative and/ or farmers’ organization. 7.Must be evaluated and recommended by RFU/ GIP Coordinator and PL480 8.No pending obligation/ unsettled livestock account under the Bull/ Heifer and SR Loan Program.

13 Animal Repayment Scheme CATTLE Payment can be made within a period of 5 years with the following conditions: 1.Animal Payment Scheme –For every one (1) head imported heifer, recipients shall pay two (2) local-born purebred female not less than 150 kg and not less than 12 months old; –Initial payment shall start upon signing of the contract and acceptance of loaned imported breeder, while the second final payment will commence on the 4 th year of the contract; –Animal repayments must be accompanied with production records/ pedigree submitted to DA

14 Animal Repayment Scheme 2. Cash Payment Scheme –The cost of the breeder animals will be based on the landed cost reflected as book value indicated in the MR; –Payment can be made in three (3) equal annual payment to start on the 3 rd year of the contract. Or can be paid in full upon delivery of the animals.
