1 THE CARBON CYCLE By: Reynaldo Thomas

2  The carbon cycle explain the circulation of carbon compounds between the living and the non-living world.  Carbon dioxide dissolves in water, hence sea and lakes are reservoir for carbon dioxide.

3 Removal of Carbon Dioxide From Atmosphere  Photosynthesis in plant remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.  Plant use the carbon dioxide to make food.

4 Return of carbon dioxide to Atmosphere  Carbon is returned when plants respire.  When animal respire carbon dioxide is returned to the atmosphere.

5 Return of carbon dioxide to Atmosphere  Decomposition of dead organisms.  Micro-organisms such as bacteria and fungi respire when getting energy from dead plants and animals.

6 Return of carbon dioxide to Atmosphere  Combustion as a result of the burning of wood, cool and fossil fuel.
