4/25-4/26 Daily Breakdown

Final Multi-Genre Project This will include: – A creative way to package all of your different pieces – A table of contents for each piece – Artifact #1 – Artifact #2 – Artifact #3 – Artifact #4 **These artifacts can be in any order that you want them to be in.

Packaging Options: – Binder – Poster board – Put everything in an object from the story – A memory box or time capsule This does not have to be an art project! I just want organization and for the packaging to make sense.

Artifact #1: Informative/Persuasive Choose from the list below. This will be the format for your informative writing piece. – A newspaper article about an event that occurs in the story – The school record of an event that occurs at school – A magazine article – An editorial about an event that occurs in the story This piece must be at least 250 words and it must include a correctly punctuated in-text citation.

Artifact #2: Theme Write a poem about the main theme in this book. The poem can be: – 2 acrostic poems (see examples) – 2 shape poems (see examples) – At least 4 haikus (see examples) – A free verse poem (see examples) OR write a 250 word explanation of the theme in this book. Explain 4 instances in which the author’s opinion, or theme, was evident. If you use quotes, make sure that you use MLA in-text citations. OR create something of your choice. It just has to creatively exemplify your theme. Be as creative as you want!

Artifact #3 A 2 page narrative piece – Option #1: Write a prologue to your book. – Option #2: Write a deleted scene from your book that further tells the story of one of the other characters. – Option #3: Write an epilogue to your book that gives your readers further information on how your characters ended up.

Artifact #4: Characterization and Commas Choose one of the following options to show how a character changed over the course of the text: – A blog from the character at the beginning and end of the book. – An email correspondence between two characters during a conflict in the story and after the conflict is resolved. – A Dear Abby column about a character’s conflict, with a response from Abby. Add a follow up letter from the character, explaining how the conflict was actually resolved and how he or she is doing. (see examples) – A letter or journal written from a character at the beginning and end of the book This artifact must have perfect comma use. I will be counting off if you do not use them correctly. Each piece for this part (and there will be at least 2 pieces) must be 150 words. Therefore, you will need to write ate least 300 words in total.

Grade ___/20 Artifact #1: 1 correct in-text citation, accurately describes events in the novel ___/20 Artifact #2: creativity, describes theme well ___/20 Artifact #3: narrative guidelines, punctuate dialogue ___/20 Artifact #4: commas, a before and an after piece. ___/20 Presentation: Organization, table of contents, works cited

Due Friday: We will begin planning our final projects. You will need to choose what you will do for each artifact and roughly decide on how you will package your multi-genre project. Write your plan in your reader response journal. (RRJ #48)

Rest of Class: I want you to read, either independently or with a group member, and fill out your lit circle sheets – I will be giving you time in class to read in the future, but you will not have THIS much time again. Ask me questions if you have any issues with your lit. circle role. – Do not fill out the “plan” part of your lit. circle role sheet if you have one.
