3 Community and Service How do we live in relation to each other? How can I contribute to the community? How can I help others?

4 Community and Service The emphasis of community and service is on developing community awareness and a sense of responsibility towards the community so that you become engaged and empowered to act in response to the needs of the community.

5 Community and Service examples Investigating scientific issues and their impact on communities. Organizing individual and group responses to community needs. Reflecting on topics studied and services undertaken.

6 Human Ingenuity Allows students to focus on the evolution, process and products of human creativity and their impact on life and society.

7 Human Ingenuity examples Evaluation of the social and ethical impact of scientific and technological developments. Appreciation of the nature of scientific inquiry and real-life scientific endeavor.

8 Environment Raise awareness of the interdependence of human beings and the natural and man-made environment.

9 Environment Where do we live? What resources do we have or need? What are my responsibilities?

10 Environments examples Exploring the interdependence of human conditions and the environment, its resources and its sustainability for future generations. Developing plans to address a local environmental problem and to help maintain an environmental balance.
