Gujarat Technological University B.H.GARDI COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY Prepared By Prajapati aditya(13ec032) Somaiya priyanka(12ec044) Presentation of active learning assignment of AVS titled “LED TV”

An LED display is a flat panel display, which uses an array of light-emitting diodes as pixels for a video display.flat panel displaylight-emitting diodespixels video display

 LED TV is a type of LCD television that uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to backlight the display instead of the cold cathode fluorescent lights (CCFLs) used in standard LCD televisions. LED TVs are more formally known as LED-backlight LCD television.LED

 An LED is a semiconductor device that emits visible light when an electric current passes through it.semiconductorcurrent  The light is not particularly bright, but in most LEDs it is monochromatic, occurring at a single wavelength. wavelength  In comparison with fluorescent lights, LEDs have significantly lower power requirements and convert power to light more efficiently so that less is lost as heat and focus it more precisely so that there is less light leakage, which can cause fuzziness. An LED also lasts much longer than most other lighting technologies.

 White Edge LED  Full LED Arrays  Local Dimming LED

 Uses a special diffusion panel and with white LEDs around the edges of the screen to disperse light evenly behind the screen.

 LED arrays are placed behind the screen and controlled collectively to disperse light behind the screen.

 An array of dynamic LEDs can be controlled individually or in groups to obtain an evenly adjusted light pattern

 The various backlighting systems used by LED televisions offer different viewing experiences. LED televisions produce the blackest blacks, by switching off the LEDs, or vibrant colors by turning them on, but will be affected by the type of backlighting configuration used.

While they all provide excellent viewing, the way the display is lit differs between LED configurations. Full LED arrays use RGB (red, green, blue) arrays that have razor- sharp spectral peaks that when used in combination with LCD panel filters reduce color blurring and intensify RGB to eliminate white LED washout.

CCFL tubes can’t be switched on or off while a display is turned on and can only be arranged in vertical or horizontal lines. This creates picture quality problems. Since the lighting is never turned off, dark scenes are hard to render properly, and the arrangement of the CCFL tubes can cause parts of a display to appear brighter than others.

LEDs, on the other hand, can be quickly switched on or off. This allows much better control of light. They also can be arranged in a grid across a display or in a ring around a display, which offers theoretically better light distribution. Finally, LEDs do not consume as much energy. There are different types of LED displays, however, and each has different traits. I’ll explain each.

 White edge LED backlighting is similar to LCD displays and limit RGB display. They are less expensive than other formats. Finally, local dimming LED backlight displays are not highly represented in the commercial domestic television market, and are most often found in professional settings such as television and film post production because of their ability to dim specific LEDs to enhance or diminish certain parts of the picture
