8 NHS Act 2006   New - Section 7a Agreement gives the Secretary of State power to arrange for his Public Health Functions to be exercised by the: NHSCB CCGs LA

9 NHSCB The NHSCB will on behalf of the Secretary of State commission:   Public health services for children aged 0-5 including health visiting and family nurse partnerships   Immunisation and screening programmes   Public health services for those in prison or custody   Sexual assault referral services   Child Health Information Systems (CHIS)

10 NHSCB   Role will be to : Allocate resources to CCGs and support them to commission services on behalf of their patients according to evidence based quality standards Directly commission primary care, military and offender health and specialised services including high security psychiatric services Allocate commissioning resources within limits set by the Secretary of State for Health Focus on achieving equal access to health services, designed around the needs of the patient Deliver improved patient outcomes

20 Cervical Screening Future Position   But: Where a screening service is an integral part of a clinical service to be commissioned by CCGs the NHSCB is likely to delegate contract related functions to appropriately authorised CCGs NHSCB will retain responsibility for Service Specification and the Service but ask CCGs to include the screening service specification in the overall contract to be commissioned by the CCGs e.g. Maternity Services Pathway, Gynaecology/Obstetrics Pathway
