3.  The God Life is a Blessed Life  We were chosen by God to be blessed. It is His plan for our life.  Jeremiah 29:11 “ 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the L ORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  We have a choice to live in blessing or to live in curse.  Choose Life and be Blessed

4.  The tongue is the second most often mentioned category of sin in the Bible behind sexual sins. ◦ James 3:6 “And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.” ◦ Prov 17:20 “He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.”

5.  Prov 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”  We are encouraged to speak blessings rather than curses. He will retaliate against those that speak curses. ◦ Gen 12:3 “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”

6.  God’s Thoughts: ◦ Prov 10:31-32 “The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out. 32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.” ◦ Ps 15:1-3 “LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? 2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. 3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.”

9.  Ps 34:13 “Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.”  Prov 21:23 “Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.”

10. ◦E◦Eph 4:15-16 “But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.”
