1 Technology Changes Everything Carolyn Thompson EDU 620 Prof. Amy Gray April 13, 2015

2 EVOLUTION OF TECHNOLOGY  The evolution of technology has impacted teaching and learning, by making the way lessons are presented more interesting, students can learn at their own pace and both the teacher and the student can demonstrate their own level of creativity using technology. In the past, teachers could only use the blackboard, text book, workbook and worksheets to promote learning in the classroom. Students generally had to be taught at the same pace, using the same information and data to gain knowledge of the lesson. Creativity and innovation had very little to do with the way in which students learned or the way in which information was provided to students. Now, in the 21 st century, higher engagement and participation takes place in classrooms, because of technology, students can work at their own pace, blended learning can occur and collaboration with peers happens far more frequently (Dhingra, 2012). Technological tools can be used to enhance learning and increase knowledge of lessons students are engaged in for learning

3 EVOLUTION OF TECHNOLOGY CONTINUED It appears that students are engaged when using technological tools, such as: IPads, Computers, IPods and of course Cellular Phones. One outcome of the technological advances in the last century is that it has made students, teachers and the world far more advanced (Edyburn, 2013).

4 TECHNOLOGY EXAMPLES  Digital and assistive technology can assist and support diverse learners. The overhead projector was once of great value to the classroom, but now there are other technological stimulants that can be used to increase student’s knowledge of lesson content. Students having access to technological instruments gives them the ability to self-supervise their learning and have the ability to revolutionize the world (Mitra, 2010). 

5 TECHNOLOGY EXAMPLES  Teachers can use technological tools to create learning opportunities for diverse learners. For example: Students with an IEP for math, can be provided with a calculator; students who Dyslexic can be provided with an IPad to view pictures of the key elements in a lesson and students who may have ADHD and/or other learning disability can be provided with lessons on the computer, which usually keeps the attention span of students who otherwise have a very short attention span. 

6 TECHNOLOGY INFLUENCE Technology has impacted the way both teachers and students are able to interact with lesson planning and lesson instruction. The tree ways technology influences student independence are: Students are able to work at their own pace and technological level, when using IPads and Computer. Students can use technological tools to research information in their own, without the assistance of the teacher. Students can use technology to measure and increase their own knowledge of instruction on topics and skills.

7 CONCLUSION  In conclusion, it appears that both students and teachers are using technology to increase their knowledge of lessons and skills. In the future students will be able to communicate with other students from different countries, using technological tools that allow them to speak and see foreign students without leaving the classroom or their home (Microsoft Vision of the Classroom of the Future, 2011). Technological tools can be used to enhance learning and increase the knowledge of lessons students are engaged in for learning.
