Nuclear Energy BY Tai and William

What is Nuclear Energy?????? Nuclear energy comes from nuclear reactors that is powered by this ore called uranium. Nuclear energy is also created by atoms, atoms are microscopic particles. When nuclear energy is created carbon dioxide goes into the air, can cause the greenhouse gas This is greenhouse gas ;_ ;

How is Uranium Transformed into energy In a nuclear reactor, fuel rods of uranium pellets are placed in water. Inside the fuel rods, uranium atoms split releasing energy. This energy heats water creating steam. The steam moves through a turbine which turns a generator to create energy. Uranium

Advantages of Nuclear Energy It produces a lot of energy and one kilo of uranium produces about the same amount of energy as 1,500 tons of coal (1,500,000kg of coal) It’s clean energy because it doesn’t release as many greenhouse gasses. It doesn’t cause air pollution because it doesn’t burn fossil fuels

Nuclear Power Plant

The Disadvantages of Nuclear Energy Radiation-accidental release of harmful radiation is one of the biggest drawbacks of nuclear energy. Radiation is controlled by a nuclear reactor. Nuclear energy can create energy that is super destructive! Like a bombing on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Nuclear power plants takes 10 to 15 years to build and are super expensive. To transport uranium fuel and the radioactive waste is very difficult!!! It’s non- renewable. It will run out when there is no more uranium. Created when Albert Einstein made math word- E=mc 2.

How was Nuclear Energy Discovered In 1930 scientists discovered that the atoms in uranium is made up of different types of particles. In 1938 scientists discovered that they can split parts of uranium atom by bombarding it with neutrons, this is called a fission. As the parts of the uranium atoms split, some of it’s mass was converted into heat energy. In 1942 some physicists noticed that the fission of one uranium atom gives off more neutrons that split other uranium atoms that starts a chain reaction. These are the two people that discovered nuclear energy Otto Hahn is on the left and Fritz Strassman is on the right

How many Houses can one Nuclear Power Plant Power? One nuclear power plant can power 893,000 homes and produces ten billion kwh of energy!!! = = x893,000

How can Nuclear Energy be Improved? People will try to cause less nuclear accidents. People also want to reduce the amount of pollution. IAEA says that nuclear power will never be 100% safe. Nuclear energy may be the deadliest energy. Right now people are making a new design for a safer nuclear reactor.

Quiz Time ;D Good luck How many houses can one nuclear power plant power? How many kwh can one nuclear power plant produce? Who discovered nuclear energy? How much power can 1kg of uranium produce? How long does it take to build a nuclear power plant? Does nuclear power plant burn fossil fuels
