16 Middle paragraph example (th)Many women were left to face the depression without a male provider or relief. (CD)Many women were too intimidated to find relief in breadlines. (CM)Mostly men would go to the bread lines and it was seen as a disgrace for women to stand in line for help. (CM)Many women were forced to eat very little and suffered from hunger alone and with no help. (CD)Women were often told not to take jobs because the expectation was for women to be housewives and the men needed the work to support families. (CM)This would hurt women who were left alone with families to support or single women. (CM)Women were not included in many of the public works programs and the jobs were for men only. (Closing)Many women felt invisible and left to fight the depression alone without husbands to help or relief from the government.

17 Example of programs that could help women Food relief for women only Provide jobs that provide women with that were traditionally women and pay women higher wages than what they were getting at the time Housing for homeless women

18 Example Older or disabled persons- The program that would best provide help would be Social Security and Disability. These programs provide assistance to those who are no longer able to work due to age or a disability.
