JOHN 1:1-5 1 In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He existed in the beginning with God. 3 God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. 4 The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

JOHN 6:63 63 The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

HEBREWS 4:12 12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

THE WORD COMES ALIVE: 1. Faith activates the word.

HEBREWS 4:2 2 For this good news—that God has prepared this rest— has been announced to us just as it was to them. But it did them no good because they didn’t share the faith of those who listened to God.

THE WORD COMES ALIVE: 2. Revelation activates faith.

LUKE 1:34-38 34 Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.” 35 The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God. 36 What’s more, your relative Elizabeth has become pregnant in her old age! People used to say she was barren, but she has conceived a son and is now in her sixth month. 37 For the word of God will never fail.” 38 Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.

THE WORD COMES ALIVE: 3. Meditation activates revelation.

MATTHEW 7:24 24 “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.

THREE THINGS: 1. I must accept it’s authority.

I THESSALONIANS 2:13 13 Therefore, we never stop thanking God that when you received his message from us, you didn’t think of our words as mere human ideas. You accepted what we said as the very word of God—which, of course, it is. And this word continues to work in you who believe.

THREE THINGS: 2. I must assimilate it’s truths.  By listening to God’s Word.

ROMANS 10:17 17 So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

LUKE 8:18 18 “So pay attention to how you hear. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what they think they understand will be taken away from them.”

THREE THINGS: 2. I must assimilate it’s truths.  By reading God’s Word.  By exploring God’s Word.

PSALMS 119:11 11 I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

THREE THINGS: 3. I must apply it’s principles.

JAMES 1:22 22 But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.
