4 Shrovetide Farewell-to-Winter Festival. Late February – early March. People have a carnival, ride troika, play snowballs, climb a pole for a gift, wear fancy costumes and eat pancakes.

5 Army’s Day Army’s Day is one of few days of a calendar when the strong half of mankind receives the legitimate right to accept from women of a congratulation, gratitude and of course gifts.

6 Women's day The international women's day is celebrated on the 8 th of March, a day when all men and boys congratulate favorite sisters, mums and wives.

11 New Year's Day Not all English people celebrate the New Year. People celebrate it on the 31 st of December. A lot of people go to Trafalgar Square to see the Christmas tree. 12 St. Valentine’s Day The 14 of February is St. Valentine’s Day. The day of the year when friend and lovers show their affection with candy cards and flowers.

14 Mother’s Day In Britain the fourth Sunday in Lent, on which people give cards and presents to their mothers to show their love for them.

15 April Fool’s Day In April there is a day for fun – April Fool’s Day. It’s on the first of April. English children like this day very much. They play jokes and tricks on other people.

16 Father’s Day In June English people celebrate Father’s Day. On that day children send cards and give presents to their fathers.

17 Halloween October 31 st is a very special holiday for children. Children make face on pumpkins and put a candle inside. These pumpkins are called jack-o’-lanterns.
