2 The EIG has been established to provide support and leadership for equality and diversity across North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust and in response to our legal and regulatory obligations The EIG will champion the Trusts strategy on equality and diversity (EDS2) and Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES). The EIG will monitor Clinical and Corporate Divisions on their progress in embedding equality and diversity through the implementation of our strategy and the Equality Standard 1. Role of the EIG

3 Enabling our staff to connect with our vision, values and behaviours Responding to our quality, safety, operational and financial obligations Attracting, developing and retaining skilled and committed people Embedding equality and diversity in everything we do 2. 4  Trust Board is informed and assured of internal and external E&D developments  Analyse data and information gained from EDS2 monitoring, impact assessments and consultation activity to inform priorities and future practice  Sharing of good practice and collaborative working on all equality and diversity activity within the organisation 3. Responsibility of the EIG

5 1.Champion E&D in the business area and support services in the delivery of EDS2: Report to the EIG with regard to progress against the Equality Standard, promoting developments and raising awareness about emerging issues. 2.Report to their Business area on key actions and progress: Take a proactive approach to communicating and promoting local work on E&D both to the EIG and mainstream business meetings 3.Demonstrate behaviours that positively uphold organisational values: Encourage staff to take personal responsibility for considering E&D in their daily work. 4. Role of the Equality Impact Lead (EIL)

EIG objectives from 2015/16 We will support the organisation to transform the delivery of equality and diversity practice: 1.Embed the new E&D infrastructure 2.Understand the business case for equality and diversity 3.Develop our cultural capability and transfer our learning across the organisation 4.Influence and inspire others to follow our lead.

7 6. EIG Management Meetings will be held Quarterly and split into two sessions: Business and Performance and Learning and Development. The first EIG will be held in October 2015 Representation is expected from each Clinical Division and Corporate Division Attendance will be recorded on personal record and will contribute as evidence towards the Annual EIL Champion Award

8 5. EIG Management We are introducing an innovative programme of work which aims to integrate equality and diversity into our mainstream business. We will engage and draw inspiration from our patients, staff and stakeholders to ensure we develop as a Personal Fair Diverse (PFD) organisation. This is an exciting and important time in our EDS journey and we look forward to hearing about your achievements over the next year.
