2 Analysing an action ’ s consequences  Why the action was committed, motives.  What could have stopped it, acts of conscience or others stepping in.  The severity and harm of the punishments weighed up against how worth it it was to commit the action.

3 The murder of Santiago Nasar  To defend their sister ’ s honour  Fear of the consequences, i.e. imprisonment for a substantial amount of time.  3 years in prison
