Introduction This document discusses the potential key technologies for E- MBS to achieve higher performance improvements comparing with 16e, which include –Increase the spectral efficiency of MBSFN transmission –Enlarge the capability of single cell transmission Five techniques are proposed for multicast broadcast enhancement: –Open-loop SM and enhanced MBSFN –Enhanced single cell transmission –MBMS transmission cooperative with Relay –Network coding in multicast retransmission –optimal unicast/MBMS integration

Spatial correlation statistics in SFN SFN could not increase decorrelation in the actual systems from the meaning of statistics When MS is far from BS, the channels corresponding to different antennas are random enough, although it can receive from more than one BS, the correlation is not improved in fact. Similarly, when MS is near the BS, maybe the channel is a typical LOS channel, but because the signal from other BS is vary weak, it could not impact the existent channel correlation. Statistics in the whole cell Statistics in cell centre

Linear pre-coding to improve robustness of open-loop SM to spatial correlation Approach 1: CDD pre-coding Approach 2: Golden Code where,,,

SFN open-loop collaborative MIMO SOLCo-MIMO Scenario 2 Inter BS SFBC/STBC + Intra BS SM, full MBSFN Scenario 1 Inter sector CDD + Intra sector SM, partial MBSFN

Enhanced single cell transmission MIMO, HARQ and AMC for SC E-MBS –Feedback signals CQI CSI –Codebook Based on the selection of the maximum antenna channel gain for the worst MS –HARQ and AMC MS sends NACK back to e-NB, the packet is re-transmitted on the common resource The MCS is selected according to the worst reported CQI

E-MBS transmission cooperative with Relay Repeat transmission pattern for inter-RS/BS SFN operation scheme Alternative transmission pattern for inter-RS/BS soft/selective combining scheme

Network coding for multicast retransmission Multicast retransmission with network coding is to retransmit the coded combination of several packets. At the receiver side, by canceling the known accurate received packet, the retransmission packet could be detected in required MS. For random network coding, BS chooses two required packets randomly, encodes them and transmits. With network coding multicast retransmission and keeping the same PER level, 25% of retransmission could be saved in size of 30-70 users. Retransmission packets ratio Receiver PER ratio

Optimal unicast and E-MBS integration We propose to integrate unicast and E-MBS signal by using Dirty Paper Coding (DPC) DPC technique makes the interference not incur any loss in capacity MS receiving unicast signal do not need to decode E- MBS signal firstly as superposition method.
