14 SERBIA: 2020 RES TARGETS 14  27% of final consumption from RES by 2020 (21% in 2009)  36,6% in electricity sector (28,7% in 2009)  30% in heating sector (25,6% in 2009)  10% in transport (0% in 2009), biofuels 

15 GREEN ECONOMY AS SERBIA’S GENERATOR OF GROWTH Green Economy: Serbia’s road to sustainable economic & social development. 15 * Potential investments of more than €1 billion in the next 3 years * Revival of Serbia’s construction, transport and energy sector and local companies * Employment during construction, operations and in the supply chain * State revenue from taxes * Energy sustainability, security and independence * Sustainable growth: organic agriculture * Reverse the impact of climate change * Environment: reduction in CO2 and other GHG emissions * „Profit sharing“ with local governments and communities * „Social Investment Plans“ * CSR: construction of local roads, school improvements, support to local initiatives * Fair treatment of local firms, farmers, suppliers * Support to LED BIOMASS, WIND FARMS, HYDRO, HEAT PUMPS, MINING…

16 NEW SUSTAINABILITY MODEL: ENERGY SECTOR AS THE KEY MECHANISM OF CHANGE 16 2011: 38% of the total world primary energy use = electricity generation, with the share of 39% of power-related CO 2 emissions in the overall emissions. 2050: 52% of the total primary energy use = electricity generation, with 5% share of power-related CO 2 emissions (IEA, “2DS” scenario). 1. Massive deployment of renewable energy sources during next couple of decades; 2. Fuel switching from coal to gas power plants; 3. After 2030 emissions reductions would primarily come from gas power plants with carbon capture and storage technologies (CCS).
