2 What is corporate social responsibility (CSR) ?  CSR is management’s obligation to make choices and take actions that will contribute to the welfare and interests of society as well as the organization.

3 What are total corporate social responsibility? Total corporate social responsibility is a model indicates that there are four levels of responsibility for any business institutions.

4 Four levels of CSR  1. Economic responsibility  The first and the most important responsibility of any business institution is to maximize profit for its owners and shareholders.  For example, OICHI company aims to increase 20 percent of its profit by the end of 2016.

5 Four levels of CSR  2. Legal Responsibility  The second responsibility of any business institution is to obey laws of the nation and avoid any illegal acts.  For example, True Company paid all income taxes last years and did not try to cook up number to evade taxes.

6 Four levels of CSR  3. Ethical Responsibility  The third responsibility of any business institution is to have ethical responsibility.  For example, Toyota Company offers fair wage to their employees.

7 Four levels of CSR  4. Discretionary Responsibility  The fourth responsibility of any business institution is to be discretionary responsibility.  For example, Channel Three often donates food, water, and money to flood victims.

8 How the company teach their employees to be ethical?  Employees need to understand the eight core values of the company that are intended to guide employees on…  - how to treat one another  - how to deal with customers  - how to respond to other stakeholders

9 What is code of ethics? Code of ethics state the values or behaviors expected in the company.

10 Eight core values  1. Honesty  Be candid and non-deceptive in communication and conduct.

11 Eight core values  2. Integrity  Have the courage to contend (maintain) boldly for that which is right and reject firmly that which is wrong.

12 Eight core values  3. Fairness  Be responsible, open-minded, not bias in all your actions.

13 Eight core values  4. Accountability  Accept responsibility for your actions.

14 Eight core values  5. Consideration of others  Respect the dignity, rights, safety, personal property of others

15 Eight core values  6. Pursuit of excellence  Consistently apply diligence, perseverance, attention to detail, and good work habits to ensure high quality standard.

16 Eight core values  7. Reliability  Only make realistic commitment and follow through on the commitment you make.

17 Eight core values  8. Environmental concerns  Be friendly to the environment in the company and society.

List and explain eight core values of the company.  4. Table 1 shows that the person is not a good teamwork if he or she chooses “yes” on the questions. In your opinion, suggest at least five ways to be a good teamwork.
