Why is it important? What are the causes? Why should you care?  Guns, Germs, and Steel Quiz – Monday, Feb. 1

4 Cause and Effect  Work through Guns, Germs, and Steel cause and effect chart.  Be able to explain each term and how it leads to each other term and then analyze how this had led to the development of civilizations.

6 Sunday 1/24  Geography impacted food production Food Production Wheat and barley (efficiency), storing, settlements 1.Wheat and Barley were easy to produce (large quantities) 2.Granary and advantages to storing food (steady food supply, time for specialization) 3.No longer nomadic (steady food supply in one area so no need to move)

7 Sunday 1/24  Settlements lead to Animal Domestication Animal Domestication Resources, farming 1.Milk, Meat, Fur, work 2.More productive farming (plow and manure)

8 Sunday 1/24  Farming leads to development  Being more productive farmers allows for time to specialize in other areas.  Diamond argues that when you have time to do other things you are able to innovate and conquer.

9 Monday 1/25 – Do Now  Describe your current event in 3-4 sentences.  Today: In your group, you will share out your current events.  You will choose 1 event from your group to share and explain with the class.  Be sure the include all aspects. – What, When, Why, etc.  We will also discuss these events as a class.
