3 Physical Health Def.- The way the parts and systems of your body work together. You Need: Proper nutrition, regular physical activity, and enough sleep. Practice good hygiene and get regular medical/dental check ups. Stay away from: Tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs.

4 Mental/Emotional Health Def.- Your feelings about yourself, how well you relate to others, and how well you meet the demands of daily life. Mental: Accept responsibility for actions and stand up for beliefs and values. Emotional: In touch with feelings and expresses them in an appropriate ways. Also you can deal with life problems without being overwhelmed.

5 Social Health Def.- The way you get along with others. Includes- Making and keeping friends, working and playing together, and respecting yourself and others.

7 The Health Triangle Def.- The three elements of Health are interconnected, like the sides of the triangle. When one side receives too much or too little of one element, then the triangle becomes lopsided or unbalanced. To be Healthy is to have a Balanced Health Triangle.

9 The Health Continuum Achieving wellness is an ongoing, lifelong commitment to physical, mental/emotional, and social health. Premature Death High Level of Health  ------------------l------------------  People on the left side, do not take responsibility for their health. People on the right do!!!

10 Lifestyle Factors Get between 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night. Eat foods from various food groups each day. Do not smoke or use any tobacco products. Eat breakfast daily. Do 20 to 30 minutes of cardio exercise three times a week. Do not use alcohol or other drugs. Maintain your recommended weight.
