A portuguese traditional story

Once upon a time there was a little ladybird who was cleaning her kitchen when suddenly she found a coin. She was so happy that she thought it was a good idea to get married.

Then, she went to a shop, bought a wonderful dress and decided to be at the window waiting for the one who would want to marry her. While she was at the window she was saying: Who wants to marry Carochinha who is so pretty and so beautiful?

Muuhhh I Do, I Do! Woof woof I Do, I Do! Meow I Do, I Do! Cock-a- doodle-doo I Do, I Do! I don’t want to marry any of you.

It was lunchtime and she decided to cook a bean soup. While her soup was boiling, she went to the window and said again: - Who wants to marry Carochicha who is so pretty and so beautiful? Hihihi! I do, I do! And if you marry me, the happiness in this house will never end ‘cause I’m a happy mouse! What’s your name little mouse? João Ratão!

She told him that he would be a wonderful husband and a great father for her children; So, she accepted to marry him! On their way to the church, Carochinha told João Ratão that she had left her white gloves at home and without them she couldn’t get married. So, João Ratão went back home and when he opened the door, he smelled the bean soup she was cooking.

He was so very fond of soup, he decided to taste it but he fell and sank in the caldron. As he was taking so long to get back, she went back home, looked for him everywhere and found him inside the caldron. When she saw him, she cried: Oh poor João Ratão, you died boiled and roasted inside the caldron. She was alone again, without a fiancé to marry with!!!

Moral of the story You should never want to eat everything you see or something bad can happen to you!
