2.  1. Functions of the Respiratory System  To enrich the blood and supply the cells and subsequently the body with oxygen for cellular respiration.  To remove toxic carbon dioxide, produced by cellular respiration, from the blood and body.

3. Structure of the respiratory System  Lungs - Large paired organs in the thoracic cavity.  Bronchi – Tubes branching from the trachea which carry air to and from the lungs. They continue to branch into smaller secondary and tertiary bronchi and finally into bronchioles.
