2. We got our ideas from an onion bud in the gardens of Buckfastleigh primary school. We liked the shape and the texture. Here is the bud we saw.

3. In the car on the way back we opened up our idea to nature so we had more possibilities. We discussed linking our bud sculpture with our market garden and our environment. Could we create a bud sculpture for our garden? Back at school we started looking at spirals in nature and our ideas grew and grew.

4. We started off investigating how plants grow. We wondered if plants grew in length by the same amount (10%/20%/30%) everyday for five days how big would they get?

5. We used what we had learned about growth and percentages to make different sized spirals using rods and nodes.

6. Our next task was to make the bud sculpture but what material would be best? willow Straws and nodes Tissue paper
