Programme Design 3 Week Induction – City & Guilds Employability Unit 5 days per week in Forth Valley College Preparation for Employment Interview Techniques CV Building Preparation for Placement Manual Handling REHIS (where appropriate) Lifting and carrying

Programme Design 17 Week Work Placement 4 days per week on placement Day-release at Forth Valley College 1 day per week In working environment Gaining experience & gathering evidence for SVQ Units in Business & Admin or Customer Services Day-release at College Supporting SVQ attainment Investigating and applying for new job opportunities Additional support with skills gap

Work Experience Placements Wide range of placement available: Hospitality, Care, Warehousing/Retail, Admin, Motor Vehicle, Hair & Beauty 1:1 Interview at assessment centre confirms their placement aspirations, 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd choice We do our best to place each person with their preference, however, we can not guarantee that we can do this for everyone. We are struggling to find placements in the building sector and need to advise students on choosing their placements accordingly Some students are placed within college usually these students need more support and this allows additional coaching and mentoring

Formulated NCLP team outwith the teaching departments: – Work Based Learning Facilitators with assessment qualifications – Work Experience Coordinator – Administrator WBLF are tagged to groups and are assigned their candidates to assess to try to offer support and consistency The team was chosen with a varied skill set and experience which we are finding very useful Organisational Development

Recruitment - Mini Assessment Centre TimeGroupsActivity 1700 – 1800 hrsGroups A1:1 Interviews Groups B & CGroup Tasks / Student Support & Finance Challenges: Only 33% of applicants turn up to interview We are not getting the referrals and the uptake from the waiting list that we anticipated Referrals onto the programme are low as knowledge of the scheme is patchy Academic and social skills level of the applicants is low and some need significant support is this the intended level of the group?

Funding and Benefits EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance) and Bursary payments are made where appropriate, however funding issues have been significant for the cohorts with regards to them being able to manage their payments in arrears and travel allowance. Anyone on benefits will be referred back to Job Centre Plus but advice from this area is out with our hands and conflicting at times Would suggest that future finance is in line with GRFW and a weekly training allowance awarded – this would also be in line with other schemes We have changed the self cert policy for NCLP to manage their attendance better, paid emergency loans and used SDS travel cards as a stop gap

2 of the first Cohort are in work Working with GRFW groups that are finishing and discussing with them the possibility of NCLP as a progression route Looking at after care and support for those that have achieved jobs How can we progress those in work onto MA? How can we deliver more units to students that are able? Progression and Outcomes
