2 Support of Open-Loop Regions with Distributed Allocations OL region type 0 in DLRUs –DLRUs must be aligned across cells in FP0 OL region type 1 in NLRUs (minibands) –NLRUs must be aligned across cells in FP0 Problem in D3 –Cell-specific CRU/DRU allocation (eq 194 in D3) results in unavoidable collisions of DLRUs in one cell with NLRUs in another cell

3 DL Subchannelization (D3, Eq 194) 3 A type of cell-specific miniband permutation Direct mapping CRU/DRU allocation partition 0

4 Cell-specific CRU/DRU allocation Purpose of cell-specific CRU/DRU allocation (eq 194 in D3) –When subbands are taken from cell-common subbands for use in NLRU, PRUs must be permuted for frequency diversity. –This also provides interference randomization in the NLRU Problem with OL regions type 0-DLRU and 1-NLRU –The physical PRUs assigned to NLRU and DLRU are not aligned across cells because of the cell-specific CRU/DRU allocation (equation 194 in D3) –Even if the numbers of subbands (SLRU) and minibands (NLRU) are equal in frequency partition 0 across all cells

5 Proposal in C802.16m-09/C2942 5 1 SFH bit: cell specific or common miniband permutation Direct mapping CRU/DRU allocation partition 0

6 Proposal in C802.16m-09/C2728r1

7 Analysis C802.16m-09/C2942 –Cell-specific or common permutation configured in SFH by ABS –No difference with D3 when there is no OL region type 0 or 1 –Only drawback: loss of interference randomization in NLRUs in FP0 when OL region type 0-DLRU is present –So we recommend no NLRU in FP0 when OL region type 0 is present, or to have OL regions types 0 and 1 simultaneously C802.16m-09/C2728r1 –Change to D3 results in loss of frequency diversity in NLRUs in FP0 even when OL region is not present –Feature of 16m to dynamically adjust the SLRU/NLRU resources is basically made useless by this change of permutation –Loss of frequency diversity in NLRUs defeats the purpose of minibands

8 Conclusion Recommend to adopt the text proposal in C802.16m-09/C2942 or its latest revision.
