In 2012 7.8 million couples live together without getting married compared to 2.6 million in 1996. In the US, more than half the couples live together before marriage. 5. 2. It’s better to get married younger. Couples who get married younger are more likely to get divorced. Since people are not as mature, they may make the incorrect decision when choosing a spouse and later get divorced. People with lower levels of education also increase the chances of getting divorced.

6. 3. The husband should earn more than their wife. In only 38% of married couples do wives earn more than their husbands.

7. 4. A single parent can raise a child. With children under 21, there is 26% who come from a single parent household. Roughly 80% of single parent households are with a single mother. 40% of babies were born to unmarried mothers in 2010, in 1960 that was only 5%.
