4 Administration Positions – Director – Department Business Manager – Front Desk Administrative Assistant Director – Communicates essential and important public health information to the public – Develops and implements the strategic direction of the Health Department – Develops short- and long-term strategies to address public health issues throughout the City and directs the activities of the department in implementing these strategies – Enforces all state and federal public health statutes and requirements – Fosters a culture of Quality Improvement (QI) – Plans, directs, coordinates and reviews the work plan for department staff Department Business Manager – Provides fiscal and HR support to Health Department divisions – Oversees fiscal transactions – Responsible for grant expense tracking and reimbursements Front Desk – Administrative Assistance – Performs front desk receptionist duties – Purchases supplies for the entire department – Processes payroll – Fiscal Responsibilities (i.e., bank deposits, revenue report data entry)

11 Environmental Health/Epidemiology Environmental Health Inspections of permitted food establishments for compliance of Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) 446 and Carson City Municipal Code (CCMC) Chapter 9 Inspections of temporary food establishments (i.e. food vendors at fairs and carnivals) Inspections of public pools/spas, hotels/motels, RV parks, childcare facilities, and invasive body decoration establishments Reviews construction plans for remodels and new establishments Epidemiology Performs disease contact investigation Performs disease investigation of reports received from local physicians and laboratories of reportable diseases as required by Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 441A

13 Human Services Ensures the City meets health, welfare, and community responsibilities as required by Nevada Revised Statutes and City ordinances (County Match, Development Services, Home Waiver Programs, Indigent Accident Fund, Indigent Burials, Indigent Services, Long Term Care, Sexual Assault Fund, Supplemental Fund) Serves as the Coordinated Entry Agency for all Carson City homeless individuals and connecting them to resources Provides employment services for the unemployed or underemployed Manages grants designed to move people toward self-sufficiency Provides rental assistance as families work towards stabilization Supplies Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) services

15 Public Health Preparedness Collaborate with healthcare coalitions and community partners to prepare for, respond to and recover from events or threats to the health of the community Conducts Community Outreach Vaccination Clinics Disseminates education and information at health fairs, food pantries and other community events Conducts community exercises to test the ability to provide medications or vaccinations to community members in a short period of time (i.e., large flu clinics, as funding is available) Staffs and operates first aid booths Administers the Western Nevada Medical Reserves Corps
