OBJECTIVES Identification of suitable jute geotextiles (JGT) material and application technology for hill slope protection in different agro-climatic situations in India. Identification of suitable vegetative species and their performance under JGT application. Assessment of JGT application on soil loss and runoff through simulated laboratory studies (runoff plots/hydraulic flume) Duration: 3 years Year of start: 2010
3
Sites selected for JGT application at 3 locations representing different hill eco-systems in India viz; Western Himalaya (Dehradun HQ) Shivalik hills (Chandigarh Centre of Institute) Nilgiris hills (Ooty Centre of Institute) Technical details of sites worked out. Three types of JGT i.e. 500, 600 & 700 GSM applied at site by Dehradun, Chandigarh and Udhagamandalam Centres. PROGRESS OF WORK
