3 What is 49er R.O.P. "Get the training you need for the job you want" is the motto of the 49er Regional Occupational Program (49er R.O.P.). 49er R.O.P. is a public education program offering career preparation classes to over 1,800 local high school students and adults each year.

4 What is 49er R.O.P.  Sponsored by the California Department of Education through the Placer County Office of Education in association with the Nevada County Superintendent's of Schools, 49er R.O.P. is part of a statewide program designed to bring education and business together., working towards the common goal of educating California's for today's workforce.”

5 49er R.O.P.  The adults who attend are often re-entering today's job market, seeking new skills for a new career or upgrading the skills required in their existing occupation.  For high school students, R.O.P. courses can help them in meeting high school graduation requirements and at the same time offer them community college credit.  An R.O.P. class can provide all students the opportunity to research a career, learn valuable job skills and in some classes, participate in an internship.

6 49er R.O.P.  An R.O.P. class can provide all students the opportunity to research a career, learn valuable job skills and in some classes, participate in an internship.  Part of 49er R.O.P.’s success has come from the support of over 600 local businesses throughout Nevada and Placer Counties. Many local businesses are assisting R.O.P.’s by offering on-site internships. This valuable experience is invaluable for students.

7 49er R.O.P.  Experiencing business and industrial workplaces helps students to better understand the business world. In order to make it in today's workplace, it is necessary to have today's job skills.  49er R.O.P. provides students with both the training and the experience required in today's changing job market. We can help you turn your dreams and talents into a career!

8 Articulation With Sierra College  Receive 2 credits for transfer  Health Ed I  Must maintain a “B” or above for transfer credit

9 State Certification RDA  ROP Dental Careers is part of the career path for state licensure.  Additional info is available at: www.dbc.ca.gov

10 Enrollment Eligibility For Dental Careers Class  High school- must be a senior (see your school counselor)  Adults- No qualifying income! (Pre-enrollment starts April 1, 2011 online)  Educational opportunity without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, political affiliation, sex, age or handicap  Proficient language skills

11 Class Duration NEW FORMAT Hybrid (classroom and online) Class first 12 weeks  3 hours per day- 3 days per week 8:00-11:00 am 1:00-4:00 pm (HS students only) 3 hours online per day -2 days per week  Two semesters  Dental Office internship  540 hour program

12 High School Obtained through ROP  student workbook, books  Materials  malpractice Insurance  Uniforms, shoes, safety glasses  Infection Control  Opportunity to obtain CPR, CA Law, CA Radiation, and OSHA certificates available throughout the year

13 Adult Fees  $175.00 enrollment fee (per semester)  Books purchased through ROP(approx $120.00)  $50.00 materials fee (each semester)  $15.00 malpractice Insurance fee  Uniforms, shoes, safety glasses  There will be opportunities to obtain certificates in CPR, Infection Control, CA Law, Radiation, and OSHA throughout the year  Fees are subject to change- check with instructor on the first day of class

14 Uniform Information  All students will wear standardized uniforms for ROP Information provided on the first day of class.

15 Uniform Information cont.  Hoodies with scrubs are not allowed scrub jackets only  Hair, jewelry, and make-up must be appropriate for uniforms and will be required in class and on the training site

16 Special Considerations  Ability to speak and communicate in English  Provide the following from personal physician or county clinic within 30 days of the 1 st day of class Hepatitis B vaccinations TB clearance

17 Special Considerations (cont)  Strict attendance policy  Enforcement of all handbook rules  Dependable transportation  Dependable childcare  Training sites located within Placer and Nevada Counties

21 Immunizations  Verification of the following within the first 30 days of class: information provided in the first days of class Hepatitis B – 1 st in a series of three PPD (TB) test
