2 History of the RETC Concept of a Regional Training Center Developed as part of a $5 Million/3 year Department of Labor Grant for Workforce innovation (WIRED) –Identified a gap in workforce training that would fit in between K- 20 institutions and industry led training –Need to be responsive to changing economic opportunities that might emerge –Focus on Green Collar Jobs under the grant; all industries must go green to thrive Legacy program from the grant implementation designed to continue the successes of the grant –Separately incorporated 501(c)3 with an independent Board of Directors –Grant Period Ends on June 30, 2010 Currently the site for numerous pilot programs under the grant at the Satsop Development Park
