Take steps to end global poverty. Funds raised by the Walk are invested by Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC), a long-standing and trusted development partner, in programs that target community-driven, sustainable solutions to poverty. Registered Canadian Charity Non-denominational with deep, diverse roots across Canada Invests in community-driven, sustainable solutions in some of the world’ s poorest countries Builds the long-term capacity of people to help themselves

Take steps to end global poverty. 100% of donations made go towards AKFC international development projects.

Take steps to end global poverty. This public support is leveraged with donors like the Canadian government to multiply each dollar as many as nine times over.

Take steps to end global poverty. Together with like-minded Canadians, you are fundamentally changing the lives of people and communities in the world’s poorest regions. Let us share a few success stories. CIVIL SOCIETY HEALTH EDUCATION RURAL DEVELOPMENT

Take steps to end global poverty. In Mozambique, silversmiths like Sufo are working together to improve their incomes by updating their designs, buying higher-quality raw materials, and selling their products in bigger markets. In northern Mozambique, many communities deal with poverty and a lack of resources. An AKFC-supported program is providing hands-on training and workshops to help communities plan and direct their own development – from building roads to forming associations for artisans and farmers. An estimated 35,000 households are being reached by this program.

Take steps to end global poverty. In Bangladesh, Children like Debesh have safe and stimulating environments to learn, play, and develop important social and cognitive skills – all key factors in supporting the leaders of tomorrow. In Bangladesh, only 25% of children have access to a pre-primary education to help them develop an early love of learning. AKFC is working with local partner NGOs to improve teacher training and quality of education in pre-schools. By better preparing children at a young age, students are more likely to stay in school and break the cycle of poverty.

Take steps to end global poverty. In Afghanistan, midwives like Zarin are saving lives and improving maternal and child health, by offering high-quality care – even in rural and remote areas. More women die in childbirth in Afghanistan than almost anywhere else in the world – particularly in rural and remote areas. Canadian-supported programs are training midwives and nurses who will return to work in their communities. These programs will directly benefit more than a million people.

Take steps to end global poverty. In Mozambique, famers like Josephina are learning how to increase the productivity of their livestock and crops, and store their harvest for longer – which means they have more to eat and sell. In northern Mozambique, many communities deal with poverty and a lack of resources. An AKFC-supported program is providing hands-on training and workshops to help communities plan and direct their own development – from building roads to forming associations for artisans and farmers. An estimated 35,000 households will be reached by this program.
