Rule of Thirds-when the frame is divided evenly into thirds both horizontally and vertically Points of Interest are at the intersections of the horizontal and vertical lines; they are points that create the most visual interest

14. Use Rule of Thirds to find best arrangement of fruit 1. Play around with composition, with view finder 2. Draw out 4 Thumbnail Sketches (small 1” x 3” rectangles that use contour to make a composition) in your sketchbook 3. Choose your favorite one to enlarge to your final project paper

15. Requirements Create composition using rule of thirds on Grey Paper – Must fill whole page – Must use one of the points of interest ½” boarder around whole paper Use at least 7 Colors for each object to show full scale of value Good Craftsmanship!!

16. Tips for Color Pencil Shading Hold the pencil sideways to get the most of the surface of the pencil on the paper Keep your pencil marks going in the same direction Do not press too hard. Start softly and build your colors. Understand how to blend using Color Theory!

17. Texture in Fruit Don’t forget to add texture to each object Apple- Smooth and glossy Lemon- has dimples Don’t forget to add all the colors that you see -you will use at least 5 colors per fruit
