Design Brief The Design Brief is a short statement of what you are going to make, why you are going to make it, and for whom you are making it for. Also, write down the constraints given. It should be an open ended statement. Do not put solution of how you going to design it. Do not limit the range of possible design ideas by adding restricting statements such as 'it must be made of acrylic‘.

Design Brief Design Brief is a written plan that identifies a problem to be solved, its criteria, and its constraints. The design brief is used to encourage thinking of all aspects of a problem before attempting a solution.

Design Brief A design brief is used in a design process to point out the goals and objectives for the designing. The Design Brief is a short paragraph describing the problem to be solved, establishing the need for the product, and then setting out the specifications within which the product is to be developed.

Design Brief examples:- Design Brief: I am going to design a hallway product which primarily stores newspapers, letters, magazines, and flyers, aimed families with young children. Design Brief: Design and make a suitable storage unit for shoes that can also be used as a telephone seat. The design should meet my potential ‘User’/Target markets’ needs; these are …………………………………………………………

Design Brief examples:- Design Brief: I am going to design and make a stationery organizer intended for people between the ages of 15 and 25 (mainly students). Its purpose is to keep an area junk-free and will enable the user to find things more quickly. The environment that the product will be used in is the bedroom, and may be sold in stationery shops. Design Brief I am going to design and make a new amenity kit for AirAsia that is practical, exciting and aesthetically pleasing. It must be different to the usual amenity kit. It should have the typical necessities, e.g. Eye mask, toothbrush, etc, and they must be ergonomic. It must be unique and better than competing airline’s amenity kits. It must appeal to a wide range of people. It must be fairly cheap to manufacture. It must be easy to store and carry. It must promote AirAsia. It must have some graphics on it. It must keep passengers and children occupied. It must try to make the user favour the airline.

Design Brief examples:- Design Brief: In order to design a product that resembling a production plant in farm industries, we are going to design and build a device or machine that could transport a load consists of six eggs from a starting point A to finishing point C in safe condition. To reach point C safely the load must be paused for 15 to 20 seconds at point B which is 500 mm vertically above point C. The load will then be released to point C safely. Each egg in the loading must have more than 50% of its surface exposed. Also, in this project we are restricted to use not more than 20 AA size batteries and not more than 5 mini motors. The structures of the machine/device can be made of any materials but must be strong enough to support itself on the concrete floor. The overall size of the machine is given by the lecturer and the time frame for this project is 10 weeks. The machine/device will be use for a competition at the end of this semester and also will promote design improvements in animal farms machineries and industries.
