4 KNOWLEDGE & UNDERSTANDING Social phenomena and processes, problems, diversity and ways of encouraging social development and change; Critical understanding of a social action approach to the operation of systems, strucures and organisation aspects of the functioning of society, SW with individuals, families, groups and communities, organizations and management agencies that deal with human needs and problems; The ethical aspects of SW practice: The methodology(ies) of social research.

5 APPLICATION OF KNOWLEDGE An ability to conduct ethically independent and in group research; Expertise in academic writing; An ability to analyze policies, programs and measures; An ability to monitor and implement innovations in social work The use of research findings to question and improve practice

6 Searching for information through a range of sources, analysing this using concepts and theories relevant to social work and presenting findings to lay, professional and academic audiences verbally and in writing ANALYSIS AND SYNTHESIS

7 EVALUATION An ability to monitor and evaluate innovative programs and activities and support the transfer and use of findings to others; Developing and improving existing communication with students and supporting social work-related teaching and learning; Planning for further professional development
