CTE teachers have been working on Career Pathways to logically organize coursework sequences. By 2013, all courses in Hampton City Schools Secondary Education will be included in one or more Career Pathways.

17. Workforce Development Partner with the Peninsula Council for Workforce Development (PCFWD).  Working on re-opening the Youth Career Cafe in Hampton. This is a place for students to develop career connections to local businesses and industries.  Summer camps for students in areas critical to our local economy.

18. Workforce Development HCS robotics program mirrors industry:  Canon Virginia recruits our graduates. Three have been hired right out of high school and Canon is paying their tuition in engineering degree program.  Robotics and Pre-Engineering are part of the Governor's Academy for Innovation, Design, and Technology (GAITE).

Workforce Development HCS high schools Career Academies will create a range of workforce entrants:  Health and Medical Sciences Academy at Bethel HS  Information Design and Engineering Academy at Phoebus HS  International Business and Law Career Academy at Hampton HS  Communication Arts & Business Career Academy at Kecoughtan HS

20. Workforce Development HCS has two grades 6 – 8 STEM Choice Programs  Andrews - STEM Engineering to feed the Engineering program at Phoebus and  Phenix STEM - Health and Medical Sciences (HMS).

21. Workforce Development HCS is creating a set of video "commercials" to encourage students to:  enter the manufacturing,  engineering,  and heath care fields. Manufacturing partnership with local employers, NHREC, and TNCC Workforce Development

Workforce Development HCS is working directly with the shipyard on a welding pathway  High School and Middle School teachers will learn basic welding at TNCC high tech welding shop from shipyard welding instructors, and tour shipyard Apprentice School, dry docks and fabrication shops.  Also placing welders in Middle School to give the students a welding experience.

Workforce Development Planning Youth Career Expo for March 2012.  2011 Virginia Creating Excellence for Business-Education Partnership winner  Partnership with the six school districts on the Greater Virginia Peninsula, NHREC, the Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, and the Peninsula Council for Workforce Development (PCFWD).

24. Workforce Development HCS works closely with Hampton's Economic Development Department to  assure that our CTE programs are aligned with current and imminent priorities. Dan Girouard of that department is our contact and we are working to increase enterprise education of students  work with our Virginia Virtual Enterprise
