3 Structures – bones made of living cells, protein fibers and calcium.

4  Functions:  1. Supports the body  2. Protects internal organs  3. Allows movement  4. Stores minerals  5. Makes blood cells

5  Structure – 3 types of muscle tissue:  1. Skeletal muscle – attached to bone  2. Smooth muscle – not under voluntary control (lining of stomach, blood vessels)

6  3. Cardiac muscle – makes up the heart.  Function – to provide forces for movement  - muscles attached to bones by tendons  - muscle contractions move bones (uses ATP for energy )

8  Arthritis – inflammation of joints  Muscular Dystrophy - inherited disorder causing weakening and wasting away of muscles.
