Raising Achievement Project YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

The ‘rationale’ for this group... The Year 10 report analysis shows that you, as a group, are significantly under-achieving against your FFT in several subjects one TWO It is perfectly normal to be one grade under your FFT at this point but you have been identified as under-achieving by TWO or more grades in several of your subjects

Strategy timeline… Intervention Log – Starts 20 th January. May continue depending on progress Revision skills and mentoring sessions – ongoing with myself and trained sixth form students in a compulsory Monday night session for one hour and tutorial session on a Tuesday AM + PM Reg Progress will be reviewed at the end of this term

The intervention Log... Intervention Log The ‘Intervention Log’ programme started on the 20th September and will run until February half term individual to you This is a ‘Log’ to monitor ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE and it is individual to you

Intervention Log What does the ‘Intervention Log’ do? This will help to track your academic achievement over the next five week at least Staff will be focused on how you are doing in each of your subjects and the ‘Log’ will give you specific advice on HOW you are going to increase your achievement in each one intended to be a punishment under any circumstances It is purely focused on ACADEMIC achievement- it is not to monitor behaviour or intended to be a punishment under any circumstances

Look at your copy of your year 10 report... Areas of strength (e.g. Where you are on target, certain subjects, key comments, attainment etc) Areas for development (e.g. Where you are not on target, certain subjects, key comments, under-achievement etc)

Tally each subject by comparing your ‘FFT’ column with your ‘autumn attainment’ column SubjectFFTAutumn attainment EnglishBD MathsCC HistoryBA For example… -2-2 0 +1

Use the information on your report to fill in the table on page 2 of the log SubjectFFTReport gradeDesired grade English Maths Science Biology- Chemistry- Physics- Biology- Chemistry- Physics-

Now look at the recent comments given by teachers…

It is now down to you to decide what your targets will be for the ‘Intervention Log’. Remember these are what you hope to achieve in every lesson to raise your attainment Target 1: Target 2: Target 3:

Look at the guidance for staff on page 3 so you know what their comments mean 1.Unsatisfactory Progress- in this lesson, the student has shown an unsatisfactory level of progress (minimal effort to achieving their ‘mission statement’, a lack of focus, work of a low quality compared to their ability etc.) 2.Satisfactory Progress- in this lesson, the student has shown a satisfactory level of progress (adequate effort towards achieving their ‘mission statement’, sound focus and work of a satisfactory quality in relation to their ability etc.) 3.Excellent Progress- in this lesson, the student has shown a very good level of progress (sustained effort towards achieving their ‘mission statement’, excellent focus and work of a very good quality in relation to their ability etc.)

Weekly mentor meetings… with Miss Ellis

Coursework catch up Sessions are put in place by departments to help students catch up on Coursework missed It is your responsibility to ensure you go to these sessions General sessions: Tech every Thursday, Maths Tuesday morning clinic, BTEC every Tuesday pm

Sixth form help Your son/daughter will be ‘paired’ up with a sixth former who will be their study buddy and mentor to guide them through different revision techniques, strategies and be there for technical support There will be a ‘prep’ session for those targeted as doing poor revision at home to help them focus their learning with their mentor on a Monday after school in C2.6 There will also be sessions during Morning/Afternoon reg on a Tuesday in C2.6

Confidence building Every student can achieve their full potential with confidence in their work and their ability The process is designed to be reflective so students learn to build on what is working We hope to nurture this within the sessions held during registration time

The only person who can really change the outcome… Is you!
