2 The verger of St. peters is an illiterate man. The vicar fires him Verger decides to open Tobacco Shop As time passes he opens more shops Goes to the bank manager, Verger tells him he hasn’t invested his money because he cannot read or write In the end the verger still wants to be back at the church

3  I believe that the Theme of this short story is about how prejudice people can be and how someone with low qualifications can be brushed off even though they have the ability and skill to do what they are doing.

4  The Verger reminds me of the whole “Recollection “ theme I studied last semester in English 11. I say this because recollection can interwind into this poem.  Example : Even after the Verger became successful and had all that money he still wanted to be back at the church working as The Verger

5  A connection I can make with the The Verger is that even when new things come up, the verger still wants to be back where he belongs. And sometimes I feel that way when new opportunities arise in my life.
