2 The Public Health Workforce careers that make up the PH landscape are extremely diverse core workforce is those working in roles with distinct functions within public health: - public health consultants - public health scientists - public health practitioners wider PH workforce; day-to-day role not focused on PH, but who are well placed to offer advice and support on health and wellbeing including: - GPs - teachers - police - leisure centre staff 2Presentation title - edit in Header and Footer

5 Wider PH Workforce DH White Paper 2010: ‘public health is everyone’s business’ CfWI & RSPH report 2015 Understanding the WPHWF currently no widely agreed definition of the Wider PH Workforce ‘Any individual who is not a specialist or practitioner in public health, but has the opportunity or ability to positively impact health and wellbeing through their (paid or unpaid) work’ (CfWI and RSPH). widens the workforce to those not knowingly engaged in public health activity, as well as the unpaid and volunteer workforce. report estimates the total WPHWf as between 15 – 20 million! 12 AGW PHN Survey – Wider PH Workforce Network is an online resource sharing information & knowledge, provides 4 free CPD events a year for the PH workforce in AGW www.agwpublichealthnetwork.info AGW Public Health Network engagement with wider PH workforce online survey mid January – end February 2016 sent out via Local Authority DsPH offices targeted groups (ACTIVE – some INTERESTED) 12Presentation title - edit in Header and Footer
