2 WHAT IS ALTERNATIVE SPRING BREAK? COLLEGE STUDENTS GO ON WEEK-LONG COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE COUNTRY. ABLE TO UNDERSTAND DIFFERENT TYPES OF SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC ISSUES. A CHANCE TO GET AWAY FROM SCHOOL FOR A FUN AND EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE WHILE GIVING A HELPING HAND.

4 OFFICIAL TRIPS FOR 2013 MEDICI PROJECT-ATLANTA, GEORGIA GREATER CINCINNATI COALITION FOR THE HOMELESS-CINCINNATI, OHIO PLATEAU RESTORATION-MOAB, UTAH For 2012 we have 3 trips within the United States.

5 MEDICI PROJECT ATLANTA, GEORGIA (URBAN POVERTY) DRIVING TRIP (APPROXIMATELY 13 HOURS) PARTICIPANTS HEADING TO ATLANTA WILL WORK WITH A VARIETY OF PROJECTS SUCH AS: TUTORING AT-RISK ELEMENTARY KIDS, WORKING AT THE FOOD BANK, WORKING AT A WOMEN’S HOMELESS SHELTER ETC. COST:$350.00

6 GREATER CINCINNATI COALITION FOR THE HOMELESS CINCINNATI, OHIO (HOMELESSNESS) DRIVING TRIP (APPROXIMATELY 16 HOURS) PARTICIPANTS HEADING TO CINCINNATI WILL PERFORM SERVICE IN LOCATIONS SUCH AS SOUP KITCHENS, SHELTERS AND COMMUNITY CENTERS THAT AID THE HOMELESS POPULATION. THEY WILL ALSO TAKE PART IN AN EDUCATION PROGRAM TO GET A SENSE OF WHAT IT IS REALLY LIKE TO BE WITHOUT A HOME. COST: $350.00

7 PLATEAU RESTORATION MOAB, UTAH DRIVING TRIP (APPROXIMATELY 14 HOURS) PARTICIPANTS IN THE TRIP WILL BE INVOLVED IN SIGNIFICANT PROJECTS THAT WILL RESTORE THE HEALTH OF CRITICAL WILDLIFE HABITATS WHILE EXPOSING ISSUES THAT MAY NEVER BE APPARENT TO A CASUAL VISITOR TO THE COLORADO PLATEAU. STUDENTS WILL BE ENGAGED IN CONTRIBUTIONS SUCH AS TRAIL DELINEATION. REMOVAL OF EXOTIC SPECIES, EROSION CONTROL, PLANTING NATIVE SPECIES AND OTHER SUCH PROJECTS.

9 TASKS TO COMPLETE FUNDRAISING FOR PARTICIPATION OF THE TRIP ATTENDING MEETINGS FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION PARTICIPATING IN EVENTS TO FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH THE TRIPS GOING TO UTA VOLUNTEER EVENTS TO GET ACCLIMATED TO THE CONDITIONS OF VOLUNTEERING LISTENING TO GUEST SPEAKERS FOR AN IN-DEPTH LOOK AT THE SPECIFIC PROJECTS
