1 Biography Project Presentation Date: December 9-10, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: (1) RESEARCH OF A BIOGRAPHICAL FIGURE USING AT LEAST 1 BOOK SOURCE AND 1 ELECTRONIC SOURCE. (2)AN 8-SLIDE POWER POINT SLIDE SHOW. MICROSOFT CLIP ART AND TRANSITIONS MAY BE USED. AUDIO, VIDEO CLIPS AND SOUNDS MAY NOT BE ADDED TO PRESENTATION. (3) ORAL PRESENTATION TO ACCOMPANY SLIDE SHOW

Time will be given at school to work on this project during December, but you child has permission to work on report at home should he/she wish to. Your child has chosen to prepare a power point presentation on the following biographical figure __________________________________. 3 Book Report Timeline  November 13 – Find a biography to read. Start reading book.  November 20 – Deadline to turn in book title to Mrs. Savoie.  November 19-20 – Students will begin online research/taking notes in class. Notes will be collected on note-taking foldable. Students may need to continue research over the holiday break.  November 30 – Students will finish researching and collecting notes.  December 1 – Note-taking foldable due to Mrs. Savoie before beginning power point presentations.  December 1-4 – Students will work on power points during class.  December 9 – Power Point Due Date  December 9-10 – Power Point Presentations

Describe the person’s early childhood/home life, etc. (happy? Lonely? Privileged? Difficult?) Give evidence Who were the significant people that had an influence in the person’s life? Explain how they influenced him/her Be detailed and descriptive (use adjectives) Slide 2

7 Interests/Hobbies What kind of interests and hobbies did the person have? (Explain if these determined his/her path in life. Did these contribute to his/her future success?) Slide 3

8 Contributions to Society What is the person best known for? How did the person make life better for society? Describe any other remarkable achievements. Slide 4

9 Challenges What challenges, hardships, failures, and obstacles did the person face? Describe how the person dealt with these challenges. (Did he/she lose confidence, give up, work harder, etc.?) What did the person do to overcome these challenges? (Did anyone help?) Slide 5

10 Other Interesting Facts List at least 2 other facts about the person that surprised or interested you. (Be able to explain why you found it interesting. Before you add it to the slide, decide if your audience would be interested?) Slide 6

11 Character Traits Write a cinquain that clearly shows the person’s character. (Include specific adjective and vivid verbs that truly represent the person.) Slide 7 Line 1: Person’s Full Name Line 2: Two adjectives that describe person Line 3: Three –ing verbs that represent the person Line 4: A phrase about his/her accomplishment Line 5: A creative noun that symbolizes the person Be prepared to explain what you most admire about the person.
