3 Welcome to YHS! What have you enjoyed the most about high school so far? How is it different than middle school? What do you like the least about high school? What has been the hardest part? What kind of extracurricular activities are you involved in? What is your hardest class?

5 What is a transcript? They include lots of personal information Include semester grades starting with freshaman year  They are a permanent legal document (if you fail and retake a class the original grade will still appear) Include your GPA which may = $ for college  colleges and sometimes employers will ask for a copy Include test scores Includes credit summary Freshman year counts!

6 To graduate from YHS 1.Earn 225 credits 2. Pass the CAHSEE: English and Math portions with a 350 or higher 3. Meet the Algebra 1/Math 1 state requirement

8 Thinking of going to a 4 year university? You will need to take chemistry or physics 2 years of foreign language and 1 year of a fine art Must pass Algebra 2 You will need to take extra tests (PSAT/SAT/ACT ) Keep your options open

9 What can I do if I’m failing my classes or need extra help? Talk to your teachers. Don’t wait until the last minute! Check your Aries.net (ABI account) Ask for help! Attend all classes & be on time to all periods. Ask for missing work when absent. Get organized Manage your time: use your planner! Take notes Complete your HW (be honest with yourself) Don’t procrastinate! Freedom = Responsibility Tutoring available in the library
