6 Childhood background: his mother died of tuberculosis when he was about 13-14 a year after her death, the Kid got involved in petty theft and was arrested; he escaped, fled to Arizona, and began his outlaw journey Outlaw: joined up with a gang of gunfighters –“The Boys“- to fight in the Lincoln County War known as "The Kid," McCarty switched to the opposition under the name "the Regulators“ arrested in 1880 for the killing of Sheriff Brady during the Lincoln County War after being sentenced to death, he killed his two guards and escaped in 1881 hunted down and shot dead by Sheriff Patrick Garrett on July 14, 1881 in Fort Sumner, New Mexico Courtyard and jail, Lincoln, New MexicoPatrick GarrettKid’s Grave

11 Juraj Jánošík a famous Slovak highwayman;a semi-legendary character in Central Europe he robbed nobles and gave the loot to the poor born in 1688, he grew up in the village of Terchová recruited by the Habsburg army in 1710, as a young prison guard in Bytča, he helped the imprisoned Tomáš Uhorčík escape they formed a highwayman group and Jánošík became its leader at the age of 23; the group was active mostly in northwestern Kingdom of Hungary most of their victims were rich merchants, but they did not kill any of them

12 captured in 1713 - according to a widespread legend, he was caught in a pub run by Tomáš Uhorčík, after slipping on spilled peas, thrown in his way by an old lady Jánošík was imprisoned, sentenced to death and hanged in Liptovský Svätý Mikuláš in 1713 "If you have baked me so you should also eat me!"

13 in the 19th century Jánošík became the key character in stories that spread in the north counties of the Kingdom of Hungary (much in present Slovakia) and among the local Gorals and Polish tourists in the region north of the Tatras as a symbol of resistance to oppression he became the main character of poems and literary works as well as the numerous films that propagated his modern legend in the 20th century
