2 The Course & its Students MEDU 1010 is an introductory course for students just entering the Math Ed major.

3 The Course & its Students MEDU 1010 is an introductory course for students just entering the Math Ed major. Math Ed is a new program, so most students have transferred into it from Computer Science or another STEM major.

4 The Course & its Students MEDU 1010 is an introductory course for students just entering the Math Ed major. Math Ed is a new program, so most students have transferred into it from Computer Science or another STEM major. A large percentage of students entering already have some form of experience – mostly as tutors.

Let’s combine future math teachers with high- needs math students.

9 The Proposed Project Students will attend one of my remedial class sessions, if possible.

10 The Proposed Project Students will attend one of my remedial class sessions, if possible. Each MEDU student will be paired with a high- needs student, and a lower-needs student to form a trio.

MEDU students will be responsible to report back to the class on the actions of their trio on a regular basis.

12 Desired Outcomes MEDU students will learn to interact with stronger and weaker students simultaneously.

14 Desired Outcomes MEDU students will learn to interact with stronger and weaker students simultaneously. MEDU students will understand how to break down problems for struggling students. MEDU students’ final projects (lesson plans) will incorporate group learning methods in an effective manner.

MEDU students will write an essay about their successes and challenges in this experience.
