4 EXAMPLE #1 Gregg and Roderick are mowing lawns on a Saturday morning. Greg can cut 3 lawns in 5 hours. Roderick can cut 5 lawns in 8 hours. Who is cutting lawns at faster rate? Let’s find the unit rate for each boy.

6 EXAMPLE #2 Congratulations! Your restaurant is opening in a week! Advertising is important and you hired 2 employees who post flyers around the city. The employee who works the fastest will receive a $10 bonus. One employee, Darien, posts 350 flyers in 2 hours, while Taniya posts 510 flyers in 3 hours. Taniya receives the bonus. Do we agree with this decision?

A red parachute falls 10 feet in 4 seconds and a blue parachute falls 12 feet in 6 seconds. Which parachute should he use?
