6 Spending Money £200 - £250 for the month Approx £50 cash in Malaysian Ringgits Rest on a bank or travel card Additional £50 for insurance excess

8 Your Kit Make sure you read and follow the Kit List – if it’s on the list it’s there for a reason! You can find your Kit List on your Traveller Gateway

10 The Importance of Footwear You need to wear shoes at all times Your boots must be:  Sturdy  Waterproof  Well worn in Other Footwear:  Flip Flops  Trainers

11 Waterproofs Waterproofs are important Make sure they are; Lightweight Breathable Easy to pack

12 Water Bottles ESSENTIAL Minimum 1L Take 2 bottles Wide neck as its easy to clean Robust

13 Sleeping Bag/Sleeping Bag Liner Doesn’t need to be expensive Lightweight – 1-2 season Squishable

14 First Aid Kit Make sure you follow the kit list Keep your items in a waterproof bag Take a range of plasters

15 Your Main Bag Your Main bag should be a 60-80L Rucksack/Holdall It will also be your Hold Bag on the plane

16 Your Day Bag Your Day Bag needs to be a 25-35L Rucksack It will be your Hand luggage on the plane You will use this bag daily

17 Packing Make sure you pack your bag yourself Take either Dry Bags or bin bags to keep you kit dry Make sure you main/hold bag doesn’t exceed 20kg Make sure you follow airport restrictions and pack liquids and sharp objects into you main/hold bag

18 The role of the Expedition Leader Our leaders all have; CRB/DBS check Outdoor First Aid Previous Travel Experience Experience of working with young adults Their role on includes expedition: Safety & Logistics Risk Management They form a Leadership team with the teachers travelling with you

20 Expedition Fitness Project work is physically demanding The fitter you are the more you will enjoy the activities It’s not too late to put some work in Final decision rests with the Leader

39 Life in Camp Each camp has a routine that you will get into You will share a camp with other groups Don’t leave things lying around Look after your valuables

43 Behaviour Our expeditions are designed to give you the freedom to develop We want to create an environment that is respectful and enjoyable for all We ask all students, teachers and leaders to sign a code of conduct which set outs the expected behaviour Code of Conduct can be found on the Traveller Gateway If you break the code of conduct you could be sent home from the expedition at your parents expense
