4 Saturday 16 th July  Coach departs Toot Hill car park approx:10:00  Arrive at London Heathrow Terminal 5 to check in  Depart London Heathrow 15:45 Flight BA920  Arrive Stuttgart Echterdingen 18:20 Saturday 23 rd July  Depart Stuttgart Echterdingen 19:05  Flight BA921  Arrive London Heathrow 19:50  Arrive Toot Hill car park approx: 23:30

5 Saturday 16 th July  18:20 – arrival in Stuttgart  Meet parents and travel by car to Burladingen  19:45 – meet partners at the school  Home with families Sunday 17 th July  Day with exchange family

6  07:45 – meet at school  Lessons until lunchtime  14:00 – tour of the town hall and official welcome from the mayor  15:00 – Burladingen town game  17:00 – return to school and home to families

7  07:45 – coach departs to Kressbronn  9:40 – Boat trip to Bregenz (Austria)  12:30 – cable car up the Pfänder Mountains for picnic lunch  14:00 – hike back down the mountain to Bregenz  16:00 – Bregenz swimming pool – open air  18:00 – coach departs for Burladingen  20:30 – Arrive at school and home to families

8  Project day in school.  Pupils prepare newspaper reports on their experiences in Germany for the school newspaper.  Pupils prepare our ‘Toot Hill’ stand for the school festival on Saturday.

9  8:30 – coach departs to Stuttgart  11:30 – Daimler - Benz Museum  14:00 – Wilhelma Zoo  16:00 – shopping in Stuttgart  19:30 – back to school to meet families

10  Project day in school.  Pupils prepare newspaper reports on their experiences in Germany for the school newspaper.  Pupils prepare our ‘Toot Hill’ stand for the school festival on Saturday.  Evening – farewell buffet with all of the exchange families in Burladingen

11  11:00 School festival – English pupils to run our stand IN SCHOOL UNIFORM!! - newspaper article and photo display plus Nottinghamshire Tourist info freebies  15:00 – depart for Stuttgart – Echterdingen by coach  19:05 Flight to London Heathrow

12 Please ensure that you take:  Swimwear  Your uniform!  Casual clothing  Clothing suitable for physical activities  A smart outfit  A waterproof  Sturdy shoes / trainers  Sun cream – it is likely to be very hot

13  It would be a thoughtful gesture to include a small present for the host family  £30 spending money will be ample  Pupils are responsible for valuables at all times during the trip  BAGGAGE SIZE:  56cm x 45cm x 25 for hand luggage  90cm x 75cm x 43cm including the handle, pocket and wheels for your case  Your case must weigh no more than 23kg

14 1. Each pupil will be allocated to a member of staff for the entire trip. 2. ‘Buddy’ System of pupil partners 3. Pupils will be issued with an emergency numbers card – to be kept in wallets. 4. Parents will be issued with emergency contact numbers for all staff on the trip 5. If a pupil needs to talk confidentially about any issue arising during the stay the code phrase is ‘I am really missing Eastenders’

15  We expect everyone to have a good time, to enjoy themselves and to follow the code of conduct at all times 1. Treat everyone in the exchange party and the general public with equal respect and courtesy – you are ambassadors of Toot Hill School 2. Stay in the group allocated to you at all times 3. Respect the ‘buddy’ system and tell a member of staff immediately if your ‘buddy’ is not with you.

16 4. Respect meeting times and places 5. Keep the coach clean and tidy, clear up any litter at the end of each journey. 6. Normal school rules apply re drinking alcohol and smoking, ie: it is not allowed at any time 7. Tell a member of staff if you have any concerns about the behaviour of your exchange partner 8. Keep the emergency contact card with you at all times 9. You are responsible at all times for any valuables that you bring with you. PUPILS NOT FOLLOWING THE CODE OF CONDUCT WILL BE SENT HOME AT THEIR PARENTS’ EXPENSE.

17 You will need to have:  a full British passport  the new European Health Card for health insurance whilst abroad

18 Please find enclosed in your information pack – a copy of this presentation. The contact details of your exchange partner including address, home and mobile phone numbers and email addresses will be sent home to you next week. (The German school is on holiday until 27 th June) Our letters of introduction have been sent. We expect a reply soon. And don’t forget - get emailing as soon as possible. The more contact the better!!
