12 2. Courses offered by UAb CRITICAL FEATURES : UAB IS THE ONLY PORTUGUESE UNIVERSITY DELIVERING COURSES 100% E-LEARNING In 2006/2007 UAb entered into a new paradigm, translated into the change from a traditional industrial model of distance learning and teaching (centered on the distribution to the students of learning package materials, that implied overall the interaction between students and teaching materials), to a new model centered in the development of competencies (within Bologna’s spirit), with the help of the new Information and Communication technologies. In 2007, UAb was considered a mega-provider of e-learning in Europe THIS WAS POSSIBLE MAINLY DUE TO THE ADOPTION OF A PECULIAR PEDAGOGICAL MODEL (WITH VARIANTS FOR THE FIRST AND THE SECOND CYCLE), DEVELOPED BY ITS OWN WITH THE HELP OF AN INTERNATIONAL GROUP OF EXPERTS IN DISTANCE LEARNING José António Porfírio 12 Anywhere in the world Geneva, October 6, 2011
